Two Year Trial Marriages
Imagine obtaining a marriage licence which states that if your relationship with your spouse isn't working after two years it will simply come to an end without the need to formally apply for divorce unless the licence is renewed. That is exactly what the legislative assembly in Mexico City is proposing. At present half of all marriages end in divorce often within the first two years and so this Bill is intended to avoid “the tortuous process of divorce”. Surely the answer is not to get married in the first place.
